Weekend watching dramatic off-road car racing in Lao Cai

On August 24, Bat Xat District People's Committee coordinated with Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union to organize the opening ceremony of the 2nd Bat Xat Offroad Challenger Offroad Car Racing Tournament in 2024.

The 2nd "Bat Xat Offroad Challenger 2024" off-road pickup truck race in 2024 aims to introduce and promote new and unique tourism products of Bat Xat district in particular, Lao Cai province in general, to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists... This is one of the activities within the Bat Xat Autumn Festival.

This year, the tournament has 34 participating teams, with 68 athletes (an increase of 11 teams compared to 2023) from localities inside and outside the province such as: Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Hoa Binh and clubs...

Athletes compete in two categories: basic and advanced, going through 5 courses to demonstrate powerful and attractive off-road skills. According to registration, the basic category has 22 teams participating and the advanced category has 12 teams competing.

The race is organized to create new, unique and attractive tourism products to introduce and promote Bat Xat tourism resources. Through that, it encourages off-road vehicle users to participate in social, rescue and charity activities in highland and ethnic minority areas.

According to statistics from Lao Cai Department of Tourism, the number of tourists to this locality in August continued to increase, reaching nearly 790,000 visitors; cumulatively in 2024 there will be more than 5.6 million tourists.

Sa Pa town is the locality that welcomes the most tourists with about 494,000 visitors; followed by Lao Cai city with about 317,000 visitors; Bat Xat district with about 14,900 visitors...
