New trend attracts young people in China

VHO - For young Chinese people, “cowardly travel” is not an escape, but a choice for those who prioritize mental health. In a world that always demands strength, sometimes being “a little cowardly” is a way to slow down and listen to yourself.

Escalators gently take visitors to the top of the mountain

Climbing the mountain by escalator - a unique experience

Instead of conquering challenging and adventurous journeys such as mountain climbing, trekking through forests, and exploring caves, many young Chinese people today choose “cowardly travel ” to feel relieved and peaceful.

At Thien Du Mountain (Zhejiang), visitors do not need to spend hours climbing to reach the top, but can take an escalator more than 300m long in just 10 minutes.

Along the way, cool misting systems and soft lighting make the journey as pleasant as a stroll.

When going down the mountain, visitors can choose the glass water slide through the bamboo forest, which is both safe and romantic.

Some parks have also created games like “Sky Horse” - riding animals up and down the mountain, or “Sky Coaster” - flying slowly in the air, for those who want to experience thrills in control.

Slow-fall bungee for people afraid of heights

Slow-fall bungee is suitable for "cowards"

While traditional bungee jumping makes many people want to "drop their hearts" following the rope suddenly dropping quickly from a height of hundreds of meters, slow-fall bungee is a friendlier version for tourists who want to experience the feeling of floating without having to face the fear that "breaks them apart".

With slow-fall bungee, players are lowered slowly by elastic cords, completely able to feel the moment of weightlessness in safe control.

At a moderate height and slow speed, visitors can leisurely admire the green mountain scenery, breathe the fresh air spreading throughout the space. Even the most timid person can experience and laugh with relief when participating in this game.

Therefore, slow-fall bungee jumping not only brings a feeling of "mild adventure", but is also considered a form of mental therapy, helping participants learn to face fear in a gentler way.

This model is currently being put into service for tourists at the Great Wall (Beijing), the Sky City in Hubei or Happy Valley (Yichang).

Lie flat and float down the river, letting nature guide the way

Go with the flow to let go of worries

If slow-falling bungee brings fear in a pleasant way, then lying flat on a river is a way to let go of all worries. Visitors just need to wear a life jacket, lie or sit on the raft to let the cool water gently push, turn horizontally and vertically following the flow of nature.

More than just a recreational activity, this trend also reflects the need to heal through cute laziness. On social networks, images of tourists floating on the water, looking up at the clouds and sky, letting their bodies drift with the flow are becoming a source of inspiration for a relaxing, peaceful summer.

Currently, this experience is attracting many tourists to Chongdu Valley ( Henan ), Lishan River (Shandong), Xixi Yuanye (Anhui) or Maoshan Forest (Zhejiang).

According to data from Meituan Travel, searches for keywords related to these services have increased significantly this year compared to last year, suggesting that “cowardly travel” is reflecting how young Chinese are redefining happiness in the pressure-filled pace of modern life.
