30 cases, 107 defendants related to Viet A case have been prosecuted

Today, May 29, the National Assembly will spend the whole day supervising the mobilization, management and use of resources for COVID-19 prevention and control; the implementation of policies and laws on grassroots health and preventive medicine. Previously, the monitoring delegation had sent a report to the National Assembly on this content.

The National Assembly's supreme supervision report was carried out in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic being controlled and all economic and social activities returning to normal .

Existing and arising problems in the process of epidemic prevention and control have been and are being resolved. At the same time, there have been conclusions on inspections, checks, and audits of the mobilization, management, and use of resources for epidemic prevention and control.

Judicial agencies are investigating and prosecuting violations of the law in research, acceptance, transfer, licensing, price negotiation, production organization, and sale of COVID-19 test kits related to the Viet A case.

The report also stated that these were serious violations and many central and local officials were criminally prosecuted.

Specifically, the report clearly stated that Viet A case had many violations in bidding, purchasing, borrowing and lending of test kits.

According to the State Audit report, in 2020 and 2021, units purchased biological products, chemicals, and test kits at different prices, depending on the type, origin, and manufacturer.

Among them, some units purchased test kits from Viet A Company worth up to more than 2,161 billion VND (directly or through an intermediary distribution unit).

By early May 2023, according to a report from the Ministry of Public Security, investigative agencies had prosecuted 30 cases and 107 defendants.

Of which, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency (C03) prosecuted 1 case, 31 defendants; the Ministry of National Defense's Criminal Investigation Agency prosecuted 1 case, 5 defendants.

Police and investigation agencies of 25 provinces and cities have prosecuted 28 cases and 71 defendants. The case is still under further investigation.

The report recommends urgent and definitive handling of cases related to Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company according to the Politburo's policy on classifying and handling violating organizations and individuals./.
