On the afternoon of June 13, a representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City responded to Tuoi Tre Online regarding Dam Vinh Hung wearing a "strange badge" on his shirt while performing at the music night "The Day I Light the Stars" taking place on May 4, 2024.

The medal on Dam Vinh Hung's outfit is not suitable.

"The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has listened to opinions from cultural managers, National Assembly delegates, and veteran officials; and has consulted with professional agencies and art councils to assess performance elements related to the content reported by the press and people in the above program.

Opinions have stated that the performances through theatrical art, along with the use of stylized foreign military-style costumes and accessories with medals and medal symbols on the singers' costumes, are not suitable for the content of the performances and the overall program, are not suitable for Vietnamese cultural values, and are easily associated with sensitive issues related to politics .

The above contents have violated the regulations on performing arts activities. The Department of Culture and Sports is proposing to the competent authority to handle the case according to the law" - the department representative said.

Previously, the department invited Tieng Hat Viet Company, singer Dam Vinh Hung and the designer to discuss and record feedback.

The Department also reminded and requested the Vietnamese Singing Voice Company and individuals participating in performing and creating art to further enhance their sense of responsibility and political awareness; pay attention to the issue of costumes and presentation forms, to avoid causing offense and having a negative impact on public opinion and society in the coming time.
