On January 6, the California Supreme Court decided to merge billionaire Gerard's lawsuit into the same case number of Dam Vinh Hung's lawsuit. The reason the court found that Dam Vinh Hung's lawsuit against Mr. Gerard Williams and the counter-suit from singer Bich Tuyen's family were the same incident, the same facts. Therefore, the court transferred Mr. Gerard's lawsuit, which is being handled by Judge Nico A. Dourtbetas, to merge into one case, with the same case number, handled by Judge Michael J. Strickroth.

The parties have 15 days to object to Mr. Strickroth’s appointment as a judge under Section 170.6 of the California Code of Civil Procedure. The lawsuit is scheduled for July 7.

The noisy incident between Dam Vinh Hung and Mr. Gerard Williams has caused a stir in public opinion for many months.

In the petition sent to a court in Harris County, Houston, Texas (USA), this businessman requested that the YouTubers compensate for damages caused by defamation and slander in an amount within the jurisdiction of the court.

Previously, in December 2024, singer Dam Vinh Hung changed his lawyer and continued the lawsuit against billionaire Gerard. As for singer Bich Tuyen's husband, this businessman worked with 4 lawyers to file a counter-suit against Mr. Dam on December 2. In the 35-page file, Mr. Gerard recounted his acquaintance with Dam Vinh Hung since 2018 and reported on the accident based on witnesses and video. According to the content of the file, as soon as the accident happened, Gerard "happily paid all of Dam Vinh Hung's medical expenses as a courtesy, after which Dam Vinh Hung confirmed that he had recovered".

The lawyer representing Mr. Gerard requested the court to consider Dam Vinh Hung's US permanent residency status obtained through the singer's marriage to show producer Lien Pham, and asked Dam Vinh Hung to present his federal income tax return to prove that his past and recent income was affected by the accident when demanding a large amount of compensation from the billionaire.

On December 8, the tech billionaire's team of lawyers also submitted to the court an additional 338-page lawsuit, affirming that the counter-suit process has begun and will not change.
