Digging a pond and raising two types of fish, letting people fish for fun, who would have thought that this farmer in Khanh Hoa would become rich?

In late September, we, along with officials of the Farmers' Association of Dien Khanh district and the Farmers' Association of Dien Tho commune, visited the fishing pond of Mr. Le Viet Toan (Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province).

From early morning, there were people riding motorbikes to fish in the pond, bringing with them fishing gear, fish food and umbrellas to shade from the sun.

The fishing atmosphere has started from early morning, the fishermen said that fishing is becoming a recreational and relaxing hobby of many people in the district.

While struggling with his fish pond and garden, Mr. Le Viet Toan, a farmer member of Dien Tho commune, happily said that since opening this relaxing fishing service, he is doing better than before, earning an average of 400,000 - 500,000 VND per day.

Mr. Toan said that since growing Malabar spinach due to the impact of the epidemic, which has slowed down vegetable consumption, he has learned about the relaxing fish farming model through the mass media.

Starting in 2019, he started raising fish and serving customers. At first, there were few customers, but gradually more people came to know about him.

His fish pond is now known by many people around and in the province as an ideal place to fish and admire nature.

In Mr. Toan's pond, there are mainly carp and monosex tilapia. Many customers come to fish and bring home fish weighing from 1.2 to nearly 2kg each.

At Mr. Toan's pond there are customers every day, most crowded on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

When customers do not bring fish home, they can sell them back to him to buy back, depending on the type, ranging from 10,000 - 25,000 VND/kg. In the near future, he plans to continue investing in more ponds to serve customers.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dien Tho commune (Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province) said that Mr. Toan's household is a good farmer and businessman at the district level. The model of relaxing fishing is considered very good and currently there are 5 households in the area doing this model.

The whole commune has 968 farmer members, most of whom are hard-working, changing crop structure to increase income and especially new effective models.

Mr. Le Long Viet - Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dien Khanh district (Khanh Hoa province) said that Dien Tho commune in particular and the district in general have great potential to develop eco -tourism models and relaxing fishing services.

Dien Tho commune has a very convenient traffic system for developing agricultural models combined with experiential and entertainment services.

In addition, with fresh air and close proximity to Nha Trang, Cam Lam is an ideal place to open this service.

In recent times, the Farmers' Association of Dien Khanh district has regularly directed and guided the grassroots farmers' association to promote the development of new models for members to increase income.
