Director of "Suddenly Won the Lottery" makes a Vietnam - Korea cooperation film

Director Park Gyu Tea was announced to take on the role of screenwriter and director of the Vietnam-Korea cooperation film project: Saigon Oppa.

The above information was announced at the seminar "Vietnam - Korea on cooperation in developing cultural industry" held on August 11 in Korea.

This is an ambitious cooperation project between three producers Film Line (Korea), BHD (Vietnam) and Web TV Asia.

Saigon Oppa is a work written and directed by Korean director Park Gyu Tea. His name is very familiar to Vietnamese audiences through the hit comedy film Suddenly Winning the Lottery with a record revenue of over 180 billion VND in Vietnam.

After a trip to Vietnam in 2022, director Park Gyu Tea spent more than two years completing the first draft of this special script, and is now looking forward to the moment when he can turn his idea into reality.

He shared that he was very grateful to the Vietnamese audience for their love for the movie Suddenly Winning the Lottery . At the same time, he hoped that the Saigon Oppa project this time would contribute to the cultural exchange between the two countries and become a movie that connects Korea and Vietnam.

According to the initial revelation, Saigon Oppa still has a humorous and silly style. The film is about the funny and sad situations about the journey of two Vietnamese husbands who, although unwilling, unexpectedly have to go together on the journey to find their wives who ran away from home to go to concerts and "follow Korean idols" in Seoul.

Throughout the film, there are ironic situations and humorous “language differences”, but in the end, they are resolved by love, kindness and sympathy, erasing all language and cultural barriers. This is not only a romantic comedy, but also an emotional journey of discovery and connection between two cultures.

Representative of Vietnamese producers, Ms. Ngo Bich Hanh, Vice President of BHD Company, believes that from the times of purchasing copyrights to broadcast or produce films: Descendants of the Sun, Happy Doctor ... this co-production is a positive trend.

According to Ms. Hanh, the latest success of Mang Me Di Bo shows that the cooperation between Vietnam and Korea has reached a new level - closer cooperation, more equality and introducing both countries' cultures.

According to the plan, Saigon Oppa will start filming in both Vietnam and Korea in early 2026. The crew will also announce the cast of the two countries participating in this project in the near future.
