Tran Island before the new school year opening day

Teachers, students and soldiers on Tran Island (Co To special zone, Quang Ninh province) are busy preparing to open the new school year with schools across the country.

Tomorrow morning, September 5, the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year will take place at Tran Island Inter-level School (Co To Special Zone, Quang Ninh ), a small school at the forefront of the storm. The school has 8 students, including 7 primary school students and one preschooler, taught by 3 teachers.

To prepare for the new school year, many days before the opening ceremony, teachers braved the waves to the island, bringing books, school supplies and excitement.

In particular, Ms. Pham Thi Hoa and Ms. Le Thi Mai Linh, two volunteer teachers, brought their sons, one in grade 3 and one in grade 5, to study with the children on the island.

"I want my child to be close to his mother, experience life on the islands, learn to be independent and love the homeland's frontier land more," said Ms. Linh, a teacher of combined classes 4 and 5.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa, teacher in charge of grades 1 and 3, expressed her emotions when setting foot on the island: "We received enthusiastic help from the villagers, the village chief and the armed forces, from support in transporting supplies to arranging accommodation. All of this made us feel close and secure in teaching."

Bonding and sharing on the outpost island

In addition to the two new teachers, Ms. Mai Thi Loan, a kindergarten teacher who has been with the school year since last year, continues to volunteer to stay on Tran Island. The class has only one teacher and one student, but for Ms. Loan, all the difficulties are worth it when she sees her students working hard and eager to come to class.

"The conditions are still poor, windy, and difficult to travel, but seeing the children's eyes yearning every day, I have more motivation to stay and contribute," Ms. Loan shared.

The commitment of teachers not only brings knowledge, but also instills confidence and the will to overcome difficulties in students and people of remote islands. Each lesson here is a seed of the future, preserved with love for the profession and responsibility.

The islanders also put their trust in the teachers. Ms. Hoang Thi Quang, whose daughter is in first grade, emotionally said: "We are grateful to the teachers for bringing knowledge to the island, as well as love and responsibility. We hope our children will study well, be obedient, and grow up to build and protect our homeland's sea and islands."

Bustling opening day of school in the middle of the ocean

Before the opening day, parents, teachers and soldiers worked together to prepare: cleaning each classroom, decorating the blackboard, hanging banners, arranging tables and chairs, and decorating the school yard.

Children who followed their parents to the beach have also returned, holding new school bags, their eyes eager to welcome the first day of school.

"Despite the remote location, preparations were still carried out carefully. From decorating classrooms, arranging staff to ensuring student safety, everything was carefully checked.

We hope to bring the children a joyful, meaningful and safe opening day," said Ms. Le Thi Bich Ngoc, Vice Principal of Thanh Lan Kindergarten, in charge of the opening ceremony at the Tran Island school.
