The 2025 Ballon d'Or award ceremony will take place at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris (France) in the early morning of September 23 (Vietnam time). However, an unexpected event has forced Paris Saint-Germain to postpone the match against Marseille from the early morning of September 22 to the early morning of September 23.

The new schedule has seen the match overlap with the awards ceremony, forcing many PSG stars, including Ousmane Dembele, to choose between the two events.
Marseille FC has also officially confirmed that the match with PSG will be postponed until early Tuesday morning due to bad weather. The team announced: "Olympique de Marseille respects the decision of the Bouches-du-Rhône provincial government to postpone the match between Marseille and PSG for safety reasons related to the weather conditions in the area."
The announcement also emphasized: "Olympique de Marseille regrets that the current conditions do not allow the match to be held, affecting both the players and fans present as well as the entire image of the event. Rainfall can reach 70 to 90mm in some areas, even 120mm in just a few hours, so the organizers are forced to postpone the match."
If PSG go all out for this clash, a total of eight players from last season's treble-winning squad who have been nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or will miss the event.
The list includes Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha.
Dembele's brilliant performance last season made him a leading candidate for the 2025 Ballon d'Or. With 35 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, the French star helped PSG win the Champions League for the first time in history, completing a great treble.

It is likely that someone else will accept the award on Dembele's behalf if he wins. Meanwhile, coach Luis Enrique has no choice. He is nominated for Men's Coach of the Year alongside Antonio Conte, Hansi Flick, Enzo Maresca and Arne Slot, but will be absent in Paris as he is in charge of PSG's game against Marseille.
