Going to Europe should I choose direct flight or transit?

I'm going to Europe for the first time this fall and am looking for tickets but wondering if I should fly direct or transit.

I am choosing a flight ticket to Europe this fall, I want to fly directly to save time but the ticket price is too high, about 10 million VND more than transit. My friends recommend transit because it is cheaper, I don't have to sit on the plane for too long, I can relax when I get off at the transit airport.
