Mekong Connect Forum 2024 promotes cooperation between Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City

(PLVN) - On the afternoon of December 10, in An Giang, the People's Committee of An Giang province and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized information sessions on important contents and series of activities at the Mekong Connect Forum 2024.

The Mekong Connect Forum 2024 will take place on December 17 and 18 at An Giang University with the theme: "Promoting economic, trade and technological cooperation in the Mekong Delta - Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country, towards sustainable development in the new competitive context". Mekong Connect 2024 is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology, co-organized and chaired by the People's Committee of An Giang province and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; participating provinces and cities: Ben Tre , Can Tho, Dong Thap, Hau Giang and Vinh Long.

Ms. Vu Kim Hanh – President of the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises said that the keywords “Cooperation”, “Linkage”, “Integration” and “Development” have become the spirit throughout the Mekong Connect events. This is also the strategic direction to improve the quality of the value chain and supply chain of the Mekong Delta region.

According to Ms. Hanh, Mekong Connect 2024 focuses on three key areas: economy , trade and technology. Activities at the forum will promote links between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces, towards green and sustainable development in the new competitive context.

“With the three main keywords “connection”, “sustainable development” and “new competition”, Mekong Connect 2024 promises to bring a lot of rich content, creating momentum for innovative initiatives. Notably, the forum is also a gathering place for outstanding start-ups (in agriculture) across the country, where the Executive Board of the Green Farming Business Club of the three regions is launched”, Ms. Hanh emphasized.

The forum has many activities such as: exchange of "Stories - startup journey"; international exchange on experiences in developing OTOP Thailand, experience in trading OTOP products; Livestream sales session on the topic "Promoting sustainable trade based on local resources"; Workshop "Developing local resources and local economy through regional linkages in the new competitive context"; Discussion "Investment capital for sustainable linkages"... Mekong Connect 2024 also brings diverse perspectives, sharp analysis and creative solutions to strengthen cooperation and linkages in the region and Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Forum will create a new development step for An Giang.

From a local perspective, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee hopes that the forum will be an opportunity to exploit the local potential, strengthen the connection between An Giang and Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces. At the same time, create favorable conditions for the formation of value chain links, grasp market trends, orient agricultural products, increase added value, promote commercialization of agricultural products and enhance market integration. Thereby, connecting tourist tours, promoting economic development of the Vietnam - Cambodia border trade.
