Hanoi organizes "World Culture Day" for the first time to connect global cultures

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen has just signed and issued Plan No. 260/KH-UBND on coordinating the organization of the first " World Culture Day in Hanoi". This is determined to be a strategic cultural exchange activity, an event that takes culture as the foundation and art as a means to promote people-to-people exchange, enhancing understanding and trust between Vietnam and the international community.

Not only is it a place where cultures from all continents converge, “World Culture Day in Hanoi” also contributes to the development of the cultural industry, improving the spiritual life and aesthetic level of the people. This is also an opportunity to build a modern cultural and entertainment ecosystem, catch up with the global creative economic trend, promote domestic consumption and develop tourism.

Within the framework of the event, the key activity is the “ Hanoi World Cultural Festival” taking place from October 4-5, 2025 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic Site with about 50 booths. Each country will have its own space to introduce its cultural characteristics. In addition, the “Hanoi Cultural Space” area will strongly demonstrate the identity of the Capital, from traditional values to contemporary creativity.

Cuisine also plays an important role when the program “Hanoi International Cuisine” gathers about 40 booths, introducing typical dishes of countries and demonstrating Vietnamese culinary heritage such as green rice, lotus tea, sticky rice. The culinary workshop area introduces and demonstrates special traditional dishes.

International colors are highlighted through special art programs such as “Hanoi International Folk Dance”, with the participation of foreign artist groups living in the capital, performing traditional and contemporary folk dances. The program “Vietnam Ao Dai Show” on the evening of October 4 will honor the traditional beauty of the nation through Ao Dai collections at the Imperial Citadel.

Notably, from October 3 to 5, the event will be combined with the 10th Hanoi Book Fair at Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street. Here, the International Book Festival will introduce publications, translated books and organize exchanges with domestic and international authors, contributing to spreading the reading culture and building a knowledge community in the integration era.

To ensure the quality and progress of the organization, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to carry out the event. The Department of Tourism was directed to strengthen the promotion of the event, promote the image of Hanoi as a "Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive" destination and accompany businesses in developing tourism products associated with cultural and entertainment activities.

The City People's Committee aims to build "World Culture Day in Hanoi" into an annual event, associated with important cultural milestones of the year, positioning the Capital as a center of international cultural exchange and spreading the Vietnamese cultural brand to friends around the world.

The event is also expanded through a series of satellite activities such as exhibitions, seminars, creative fairs, culinary and craft spaces, creating a foundation for developing cultural industries, promoting people-to-people foreign cooperation and conveying the image of Vietnam as diverse, open, and respectful of differences.
