Over 1,000 billion VND was spent on expanding 600m of road in Ho Chi Minh City.

(Dan Tri) - A section of Chu Van An Street (Binh Thanh District) has been expanded with an investment of more than 1,000 billion VND to solve traffic congestion and flooding during heavy rains.

A 600m long section of Chu Van An Street (Binh Thanh District) was invested by the city with 1,067 billion VND to widen it from 5-6m to 23m. This is one of the top high-cost projects among road upgrading projects in the area.

The project to widen 600m of Chu Van An Street starts from Binh Hoa intersection (No Trang Long - Chu Van An - Phan Van Tri intersection) and ends at the intersection with Phan Chu Trinh Street. The road widening project will reclaim about 11,000m2 of land, affecting 176 households with compensation costs of about 982 billion VND.

According to Dan Tri reporter, this road often has traffic jams and congestion due to the large number of vehicles passing through during rush hour.

Seen from above, this road section is a bottleneck, some sections have winding roads less than 5m wide, creating black spots of traffic congestion for vehicles passing through here.

It is known that this road is a one-way car ban, but many drivers still ignore it and enter, causing congestion. "This road often has traffic jams, regardless of the time, as long as there is a bulky truck or a car going in the opposite direction, the whole road will be jammed," said Mr. Phan Ha (60 years old, living in Binh Thanh district).

Mr. Hoang Si Thi (59 years old), who has been working as a car mechanic on Chu Van An Street for nearly ten years, said that because the road surface is higher than the house's floor, on days of heavy rain, his shop almost has to close to prevent water from flooding into his house. "I hope this road will be widened soon so that people can avoid water flooding into their houses and traffic jams," Mr. Thi shared.

This road is often flooded during heavy rains, making people's lives difficult.

Chu Van An Street is already narrow, at night, many people set up stalls in the middle of the street, making the road even narrower, affecting traffic.

The Chu Van An Street expansion project is invested by the Binh Thanh District Construction Investment Project Management Board and will be implemented from now until 2026.

Chu Van An Street is nearly 2km long, connecting with many major roads such as Dinh Bo Linh, Phan Chu Trinh, No Trang Long, Phan Van Tri... The project to expand 600m of Chu Van An Street is expected to improve traffic conditions through Binh Thanh district.
