The Binh Thanh District Tax Team (Tax Department Region II) has just issued a warning about the recent case of a fraudster impersonating the tax authority and making an invitation dated March 17, stating that the Binh Thanh District Tax Department belongs to the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department (converted to the Binh Thanh District Tax Team, Tax Department Region II), with the content requiring businesses to come to the tax authority to update information on value added tax reduction policy and personal income tax refund policy.
The Binh Thanh District Tax Team said that the scammer also impersonated the team's officials and called taxpayers asking them to bring their citizen identification cards, business registration certificates, business licenses, etc. to the tax office to receive support and guidance on procedures for tax exemption, reduction, tax incentives, tax refunds, and tax settlement.
In addition, scammers impersonating tax officials require taxpayers to bring their ID cards, laptops, and smartphones to the tax office headquarters to receive instructions on supplementing information and installing software that impersonates tax office applications to steal personal information, bank account information, and appropriate property.
Binh Thanh District Tax Team recommends that taxpayers do not provide personal information or bank account information to anyone over the phone or on social networks. In particular, it is necessary to carefully check communication information, especially requests to transfer money or provide information over the phone.
Do not allow any individual to access your computer or phone to assist in installing or using the tax authority's software. Absolutely do not click on links attached to text messages, Zalo messages, etc. claiming to be from the tax authority providing instructions on tax procedures.
