The special thing about the 400-year-old "lonely" village in Nha Phu lagoon

Ha Lien Village (now Ha Lien Residential Group) belongs to Ninh Ha Ward (Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province). This village is about 30km north of Nha Trang City.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhat, Chairman of Ninh Ha Ward People's Committee, Ha Lien village was discovered and established by local people about 400 years ago.

“The total residential land area in Ha Lien is about 2 hectares. Currently, the whole village has about 330 households with 1,200 people living there,” said Mr. Nhat.

According to the Chairman of Ninh Ha ward, people in Ha Lien mainly live by fishing and raising shrimp and crabs in Nha Phu lagoon area.

What is special is that in Ha Lien there is only one concrete road leading to the village gate.

Being surrounded by rivers, almost every house in Ha Lien village has a boat.

Local people often use boats to visit shrimp and crab ponds and go to Nha Phu Bay to catch seafood. Those who can afford it buy motorboats, those who can afford it use boats that run on rice.

In Ha Lien, houses are built close together, densely, mostly level 4 houses.

Mrs. Huynh Thi Loi (91 years old, living in Ha Lien village), said that she has lived with her family in the village since she was a child. In the past, transportation was not developed, so her father caught fish in Nha Phu lagoon and brought them to her to carry to the district center to sell, in exchange for rice and meat.

Mangrove trees are planted on the east side of the village, like a wall protecting Ha Lien residents from winds and storms.

The Chairman of Ninh Ha Ward People's Committee said that in the coming time, the locality will promote the exploitation of the diverse flora and fauna of Nha Phu lagoon to develop tourism , in which it is associated with Ha Lien village.
