Novak Djokovic overcame the challenge of Taylor Fritz at the US Open to continue his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title. The Serbian took full advantage of his American opponent's missed opportunities to win the final.
The 38-year-old Serbian, a four-time champion in New York, defeated last year's runner-up 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. The win took Djokovic's head-to-head record against Fritz to 11-0. By reaching the semi-finals, Djokovic equaled Jimmy Connors' record of 14 US Open semi-finals.

After some unconvincing performances in the early rounds and multiple medical visits, Djokovic has been back to his best in the past two weeks. He will face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated semi-final. Djokovic currently leads Alcaraz 5-3 in the head-to-head series, including his last two wins. The September 5 match will be the first time the two players have met at Flushing Meadows.
