Unite, overcome challenges, build Gia Lai more and more prosperous

(GLO)- That was the direction of comrade Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee at the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress of Gia Lai province (2025-2030) held on the morning of September 25 at the Provincial Conference Center.

Affirming strength from emulation movements

Reporting at the Congress, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh affirmed: In the period of 2020-2025, the patriotic emulation movement and reward work of Gia Lai province were deployed synchronously, widely and achieved important results.

Thereby, contributing to maintaining the growth and development momentum of the province's socio-economy ; shifting the economic structure in a positive direction; improving labor productivity; focusing on investment and improvement of socio-economic infrastructure; and changing and improving the appearance of urban and rural areas.

Cultural and social activities received attention and made much progress; social security was guaranteed; the lives of the majority of people were basically stable; national defense and security were maintained.

Through patriotic emulation movements, many examples of good people, good deeds, advanced and outstanding models have appeared in production labor, economic development, charity, humanity, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and well implementing the guidelines, policies, and laws of the Party and State.

From there, it contributes to weaving a glorious tradition, pride and is the driving force for the whole province to enter a new development stage, and together with the whole country to enter a new era of the Vietnamese nation.

Notably, the movement “The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas” has brought about many comprehensive results. Before the merger, Gia Lai province had 110/180 communes and 182 villages meeting new rural standards (including 178 ethnic minority villages); Binh Dinh province had 97/113 communes meeting new rural standards (including many advanced and model communes), and 7 districts meeting new rural standards.

After the merger, the whole province has 981 OCOP products, of which 7 products have achieved 5-star rating, affirming the local agricultural product brand.

The movement “For the poor - No one left behind” has helped more than 61,000 households escape poverty, bringing the poverty rate of the whole province down to 2.24%. In particular, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities has decreased by an average of nearly 5% per year.

Many creative models such as: Dat Bang Agricultural and Youth Service Cooperative (Phu Tuc commune) has a revenue of 2.2 billion VND/year, creating jobs for 200 workers; or the community tourism model of Ms. H'Uyen Nie (Ia Ly commune) has affirmed its effectiveness and created a great spread in the community.

“Along with that, Gia Lai has become a bright spot in the country when it completed ahead of schedule the goal of eliminating 12,520 temporary, dilapidated houses, bringing stable homes to tens of thousands of poor and near-poor households. This result was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President. In addition, the emulation movement in scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation has initially achieved positive results, contributing nearly 40% to economic growth in the 2021-2025 period,” the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed.

Typical shining example from the grassroots

At the Congress, many typical and advanced collectives and individuals were honored. Each person has a different field and way of working, but all shine with a sense of responsibility and aspiration to contribute.

The Provincial Military Command with the program "Helping children go to school" has sponsored hundreds of students with difficult circumstances in the border areas. Doctor Nguyen Thanh Triet - Director of Gia Lai Eye Hospital, with many applied research projects has helped hundreds of thousands of patients to be examined and treated effectively.

In addition, localities such as Tuy Phuoc Bac commune or Quy Nhon ward have become typical examples in the movement to build model new rural areas and civilized urban areas, creating a solid foundation for development.

In particular, the patriotic emulation movement in the field of economic development in ethnic minority areas has achieved many practical results. A typical example is Mr. Kpa Seo - Director of the Agricultural and Youth Service Cooperative of Dat Bang Commune (Phu Tuc Commune).

He and other members of the local youth union have implemented many effective economic models; at the same time, proactively linked with businesses to ensure product output, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

Mr. Seo shared: The cooperative has linked with businesses to implement many effective economic development models such as: growing brown tobacco, raising goats for breeding, growing stone rice...

At the same time, building tourism products including houses for guests to stay, building sightseeing and experience spots at the source of Ama Giai waterfall, Ia Mlah stream, Chu Phi mountain peak - the place considered the most beautiful paragliding spot in the Central Highlands region... Thanks to that, the total revenue of the Cooperative reached more than 2.2 billion VND/year; creating jobs for more than 200 members, youth and poor households in the commune.

In addition to completing his professional tasks excellently, in recent years, Senior Lieutenant Le Tuan Thanh - a police officer of Hra commune - has proactively proposed and implemented many community models and projects that have brought about practical results. Typical initiatives include: "Bookcase to light up morality", "Green journey", "Peaceful road project", and many other meaningful social security activities.

In particular, Senior Lieutenant Thanh advised on opening a literacy class called “Love Class”. Senior Lieutenant Thanh shared: “Through simple lessons, close to life, students not only learn to read and write but also have access to knowledge about health care, environmental sanitation, effective agricultural production and basic legal knowledge. This contributes to changing the way of thinking and doing in the community, especially in difficult areas like Kret Krot village.

Literacy classes are also a place to share experiences in effective production and economic development, helping to improve production efficiency, improve income, and escape poverty sustainably.

With his achievements, Senior Lieutenant Thanh was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee for the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" movement, a certificate of merit from the Minister of Public Security for "Advanced role model in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level", and many other noble awards.

Aspiration to rise in the new stage

Speaking at the Congress, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung affirmed: "Patriotic emulation has been, is and will always be an important driving force to help Gia Lai develop rapidly, sustainably, prosperously and happily."

In order for the patriotic emulation movement to truly become a great driving force in the new period, the Provincial Party Secretary proposed continuing to seriously grasp Ho Chi Minh's thought on patriotic emulation; raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations and people; considering emulation as an important driving force to promote socio-economic development; linking the emulation movement with the completion of political tasks of each agency, unit and locality.

At the same time, strongly innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of patriotic emulation movements. Each movement must clearly define its goals and specific, practical content, linked to the political tasks of each cadre and party member, as well as the daily work of each citizen.

Focus on discovering, nurturing, honoring and replicating advanced models through emulation movements. Party committees and authorities need to promptly evaluate, select and commend positive factors; create conditions for typical models to promote their effectiveness and spread widely in society.

Along with that, closely and harmoniously combine emulation with rewards in the spirit: "Emulation is sowing, rewards are harvesting". Rewards must be given to the right people, the right job, promptly, publicly, transparently; focus on rewarding collectives, individuals who directly work, and typical, truly progressive factors.

Aiming for the goal of Gia Lai becoming a fairly developed province in the country by 2030, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung called on all cadres, party members, soldiers of the armed forces, the business community and people of all ethnic groups in the province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, innovation, and drastic action; actively participating in patriotic emulation movements with specific and effective actions in studying, working, producing and working.

Each collective and individual strives to become a "beautiful flower" in social life, preserve and promote the traditions of the homeland, and join hands to build Gia Lai to become increasingly rich, beautiful, and civilized.

Based on the results and lessons learned, the Congress launched the patriotic emulation movement for the 2025-2030 period with the theme: "Competing in innovation, creativity, accelerating breakthroughs, and joining the whole country in entering an era of strong, civilized, and prosperous development".

At the same time, listening to the response of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of cadres, soldiers and people of the whole province, expressed their determination to organize a broad and specific movement until 2030, contributing to the successful completion of the socio-economic development task in the new period.

In his closing speech at the Congress, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: To turn the determination into reality, the Congress called on the entire political system and people in the province to unite to promote the strength of national solidarity, will and aspiration to rise up; promote innovation, digital transformation; determined to successfully implement the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, and strengthen national defense and security.

Along with that, build Gia Lai province to develop rapidly and sustainably, becoming a center of processing industry, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, tourism and especially high-tech industries such as semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence (AI). Strive to make Gia Lai a fairly developed province, together with the whole country firmly entering a new era of development.
