Economic-Defense Group 5 awarded more than 340 million VND to support ethnic minority students in especially difficult circumstances.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - For 2 days (July 29 and 30), Economic - Defense Group 5 (Military Region 4) coordinated with local authorities and school principals to organize the presentation of funds and gifts to students under the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" in 2024. The program was held in communes in the Muong Lat project area, Thanh Hoa province.

Representatives of the leaders of Economic - Defense Group 5, representatives of local authorities and the Board of Directors of Tam Chung commune schools presented financial support and materials to the students.

The total amount of funding paid in this period is 341.5 million VND, supporting 35 ethnic minority students in especially difficult circumstances. They receive support in two forms: receiving support and being adopted at home. Specifically, each student receiving support receives 7.4 million VND for 9 months; of which: 3.6 million VND for meals for 6 months and 3.8 million VND in kind, such as: food, necessities, school supplies, vehicle repair... For students adopted at home, supported for 12 months/year, the support level is 23.9 million VND/student; of which: 16.5 million VND in cash and 7.4 million VND in kind.

Representatives of the leaders of Economic - Defense Group 5, commune leaders and school principals of Tam Chung commune presented financial and material support to the students.

It is known that the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" is implemented by the Ministry of National Defense from 2021 to 2030, phase I: from 2021 to 2025. In which, Economic - Defense Group 5 started implementing the project from 2022; after nearly 4 years of implementation, the project has actively contributed to helping students overcome difficulties, many of them achieved good and excellent results in their studies.

The project not only has profound humanitarian significance, helping students in border areas overcome difficulties to go to school, but also contributes to strengthening military-civilian solidarity, building a solid people's heart position, and protecting the Fatherland's borders.
