On the afternoon of August 2, the Standing Committee of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Vice President of the VGCL, worked with the leaders of Thanh Hoa province on leadership and direction of the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in Thanh Hoa province. According to the report of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, as of July 31, 2024, the whole province has 365,910 workers, civil servants, and employees in units with trade unions and over 35,000 workers in units without trade unions. In addition, according to incomplete statistics, the whole province has more than 11,800 workers working in the informal sector.

Following the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, recently, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Confederation of Labor has taken many measures to direct and implement the work of developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, especially directing trade unions at all levels to survey and grasp the situation of labor in the informal sector, and mobilize union members to develop and establish grassroots unions.

Trade unions at all levels in the province have proactively surveyed and grasped the situation and areas of operation of enterprises and workers in the management area, built propaganda plans, mobilized union members, established grassroots unions and grassroots unions. Actively and proactively innovated the content and methods of grassroots union activities, diversified the forms of organizing movements and activities to care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, thereby creating trust, attracting and gathering workers to participate in trade unions.

As a result, in the first 7 months of 2024, the whole province has newly established 53 grassroots trade unions and 10 grassroots trade unions; developed 19,907 new union members, reaching 55.6% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Particularly in July 2024 - "Peak month of developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, introducing outstanding union members to the Party"; the whole province has established 15 grassroots trade unions, 10 grassroots trade unions and developed over 11,000 new union members.

Appreciating the efforts of Thanh Hoa trade unions at all levels in overcoming difficulties and effectively implementing the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions, comrades Nguyen Xuan Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee analyzed the advantages, difficulties and risks affecting the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions. At the same time, it was suggested that in the coming time, Thanh Hoa trade unions should continue to survey and grasp the situation of quantity and quality of enterprises and workers in the area, thereby advising the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee on solutions to organize, lead and direct the implementation of the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions and grassroots unions. Innovate propaganda work to union members and workers in a suitable and effective manner; innovate the process and procedures for admitting union members and establishing grassroots unions.
