Temporarily close Ca Mau airport for one year

The Ministry of Construction decided to close Ca Mau airport for one year starting October 30 to upgrade and expand the airport.

Specifically, considering the proposal of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Ministry of Construction decided to temporarily close Ca Mau airport (Tan Thanh ward, Ca Mau province) from 7:00 a.m. on October 30, 2025 to 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026 to construct items of the project to expand and upgrade this airport.

The Ministry of Construction requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to be responsible for announcing the temporary closure of Ca Mau airport on the aviation information notification system, notifying local authorities, relevant agencies and units; and directing the implementation of remedial measures and handling of related issues.

The project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) with a budget of about VND2,400 billion, using 100% of the company's equity.

The project implements the construction, expansion and upgrading of Ca Mau airport to ensure the operation of Airbus A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft.

Accordingly, the project will build a new runway measuring 2,400m x 45m, ensuring the operation of Airbus A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft;

Construction of taxiways connecting the runway with the aircraft parking lot and 5 waiting taxiways; construction of the parking lot to accommodate 3 parking positions for Airbus A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft.

Renovate and expand the existing passenger terminal to reach a capacity of 500,000 passengers/year (can be expanded to ensure handling of 1 million passengers/year when needed).

The progress of the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau airport is 18 months from the date the State allocated the land.

Ca Mau Airport currently has a 2-storey passenger terminal, designed capacity of 200,000 passengers/year, serving 150 passengers/peak hour;

1 runway 1,500m long, 30m wide, asphalt concrete structure ensures operation of ATR 72 aircraft and equivalent, Embraer E190 aircraft with reduced load; 1 taxiway connecting the runway and the apron with 2 aircraft parking positions.
