[Video] Exhibition of ancient Mid-Autumn lanterns

From October 5 to 12, at the Quang San Art Museum (Ho Chi Minh City), artist Doan Thai Cuc Huong introduced the exhibition "Lam", awakening memories through ancient Vietnamese Mid-Autumn lanterns; and at the same time, it will be on display at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (Hanoi) from October 4 to November 4.

The exhibition features more than 80 lantern works, entirely handcrafted from sustainable, environmentally friendly materials such as rattan, bamboo, do paper, and natural earth colors.

Besides the familiar star lantern model, many popular shapes such as carp, shrimp, mantis, pomegranate... are recreated, combined with royal court motifs, Dong Son bronze drums, and Hang Trong paintings of To Nu.

The author also incorporates contemporary accents such as pearl and scallop powder treatments to create a sparkling surface and a richer color palette, opening up a dialogue between tradition and the present.
