Strong earthquake shakes Japan's capital Tokyo

The earthquake occurred at around 7:03 p.m. (local time), causing a seismic shock of level 5 on Japan's 7-level seismic scale in some areas of Ibaraki and Chiba provinces.

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook the Tokyo metropolitan area and surrounding areas in eastern Japan.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) assessed that there was no risk of a tsunami after the earthquake.
