As soon as there was information about rising floodwaters on the Red River, with the risk of flooding in some areas of Thien Truong Ward (former My Tan Commune), the Civil Defense Command (PTDS) of Thien Truong Ward held an urgent meeting, issued a response order and switched to 24/7 duty mode at key locations.
Implementing the "4 on-the-spot" motto, the ward has mobilized a shock force of about 500 people (including military , Youth Union, forces of residential groups, and security groups) ready to perform rescue and dike protection tasks. Regarding materials, the ward has prepared thousands of sacks of sand and soil, sealed off leaking locations, and purchased more sand, rocks, bamboo poles, and tarpaulins to handle emergency incidents.
Along with that, the residential groups along the dike have proactively cleared and removed obstacles on the dike surface to facilitate the transportation of materials. Patrol forces for each segment have been assigned, continuously increasing the frequency of inspection and reporting to the Command Board to promptly detect and handle incidents such as extrusion lines, aeration lines or landslides.
The evacuation plan as the water level continues to rise has been communicated to each residential group. The ward police and veterans have been assigned to coordinate to maintain security and order, and protect people’s property during the evacuation. The health sector has also prepared mobile emergency teams and medicine to be ready to respond.
With careful preparation and proactive spirit, the government and people of Thien Truong ward are making every effort to minimize damage caused by natural disasters./.
