How much money do you need to study in Canada?

Depending on the place of residence, school and major, international students in Canada need from 14,000 to 53,000 CAD (over 250-940 million VND) for tuition, living expenses, housing... each year.

1. Tuition

You should budget between 10,000 and 50,000 CAD per year. Typically, Humanities, Education and Arts majors have cheaper tuition fees than Doctors and Engineers.

2. Student visa and fingerprint fees

4. Criminal record fee

This is a document issued by the Department of Justice or the National Criminal Records Center, providing basic information about an individual, confirming that person's background. Vietnamese students are required to have this type of document, the cost is 200,000 VND.

5. Guardianship fees

Most high schools in Canada will require international students to have a guardian when applying for admission. On average, the guardianship fee is 200 - 1,000 CAD (about 3.5 - 17.9 million VND).

6. Average application fee

When you apply for admission, you must pay an application fee. This fee will vary depending on the school, but on average it is 100 CAD (about 1.79 million VND).

7. Translation fee

Document translation fee is about 800,000 VND/set.

8. Housing costs in Canada

There are three accommodation options available to international students in Canada:

In addition, you have to take care of living expenses such as electricity, water, internet... The cost of renting a room will vary, depending on the region where you study abroad.

Finally, you can choose to live with a Canadian family in the form of homestay. Initially, you have to pay a small fee for the house finding service. Choosing this type of rental, you will live with the host family, learn more about the local culture.

9. Cost of living in Canada

In addition to housing and utilities, international students need to budget for groceries, entertainment, and emergencies.
