(Fatherland) - The panorama painting, painted in oil with a length of 132m, height of 20.5m, diameter of 42m (total area of 3,225 m2), completely recreates the heroic Dien Bien Phu campaign, full of blood and bones, in which our ancestors sacrificed to regain national independence.
Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum is located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street (Muong Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province), designed in the shape of a truncated cone, decorated around in a diamond shape simulating the camouflage mesh hat of our soldiers in the past.
On the eve of the Dien Bien Phu victory anniversary, many domestic and international tourists have come to the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum to visit and admire the panorama painting recreating the Dien Bien Phu campaign painted on the second floor of the museum.
The panorama of the Dien Bien Phu campaign is divided into four historical stages according to the theme: The whole people go to battle; The heroic prelude; The historic confrontation; Dien Bien Phu victory.
This monumental work covers an area of 3,250 square meters, is made of oil paint, and was contributed by nearly 100 artists, and was completed within 2.5 years, showing the grandeur in the history of the struggle to protect the Fatherland of the Vietnamese army and people, typically the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
The first part, "The whole people go to battle", recreates the image of groups of people and soldiers carrying goods, climbing mountains and wading streams to provide food for the front line.
The image of hundreds of soldiers pulling cannons at the Dien Bien Phu front is recreated very vividly and realistically.
The image of Hero To Vinh Dien saving the cannon from falling is engraved in the picture.
Part 2 “The Epic Prelude”, with the highlight being the Him Lam battle that opened the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Visitors can admire the panorama that recreates the Dien Bien Phu battle in the most realistic and vivid way.
Section 3 “The historic confrontation”: Images of trenches, barbed wire, hand-to-hand combat… reflect the fierceness of the battlefield. The section ends with the image of a column of smoke from an explosive in the heart of hill A1.

“Since the beginning of April 2024, the number of visitors to the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum has skyrocketed. Especially, as the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024) approaches, the number of people coming to Dien Bien is increasing. The Panorama painting of the Dien Bien Phu Victory at the Museum is a highlight attracting visitors,” said Ms. Vu Thi Tuyet Nga, Director of the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum.
Many tourists stood still for a long time before each historical scene drawn by the talented hands of hundreds of artists.
Section 4 “Dien Bien Phu Victory”: The image of our army capturing the Dien Bien Phu stronghold and the image of the “Determination to fight, Determination to win” flag of the Vietnam People’s Army flying on the roof of General De Castries’ bunker - the Dien Bien Phu campaign was victorious.
On this occasion, many "Dien Bien soldiers" returned to the old battlefield.
Many people have recorded their emotional feelings.
Even though 70 years have passed, the images of the bloody Dien Bien Phu war still leave a lot of historical significance in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.
Majestic, magnificent and full of pride, that is the feeling of anyone standing in front of the panorama recreating the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
Many foreign tourists have come and left their thoughts at the museum.
