On the same day, on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, at Km213+750 (right side of the route), in Ham Liem commune ( Lam Dong province), many locations on the roadside suddenly had serious erosion points.
Standing right at the edge of the highway, you can see the foundation has been deeply gouged, the soil and rocks have collapsed, creating a landslide that exposes the layer of rock inside.

"The risk of insecurity is obvious. The situation of the roadside being eroded and having a "frog mouth" is quite serious. Just a few more heavy rains, or overloaded vehicles passing by, the road surface can collapse at any time," Mr. Le Chinh (residing in Ham Liem commune) worried.
More worryingly, less than 100 meters from this erosion point, many sections of the road embankment were also cut by rainwater, creating long gullies.

At Km213+850 on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, another landslide is also gradually expanding. If not handled soon, the crack can spread to the road surface, directly affecting traffic safety along the entire route.
A representative of Management Board 7 said that continuous heavy rains were the main cause of the erosion. Currently, the unit has coordinated with the contractor to inspect the entire route and mobilized human resources and machinery for emergency repairs.

The Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet Expressway is one of the important sections of the North – South Eastern Expressway, more than 100km long, opening to traffic from May 2023. The route is designed with 4 lanes, maximum speed of 90km/h. The appearance of erosion after only 2 years of operation is requiring increased inspection and periodic maintenance to ensure quality of operation and traffic safety on this vital route.
