Man City got off to a flying start in the FIFA Club World Cup, beating Wydad AC 2-0 at the Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia (USA). Phil Foden shone with a goal and an assist, contributing to the defending champions' easy victory.

Unfortunately for the Moroccans, their progress was cut short when Jeremy Doku slotted home Foden’s deep pass to double City’s lead in the closing stages of the first half, ending Doku’s five-month drought for the Manchester club.

In the second half, Doku continued to have chances but could not beat Benabid. He and a number of other players were then taken off the field, making way for Oscar Bobb, Rodri and Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker also had a powerful finish that sent the ball over the bar as Man City continued to search for a third goal.

However, Man City's victory was affected by a red card for Rico Lewis in the final minutes of the match, after a collision with Samuel Obeng was considered dangerous. Despite having to play with one less man, the Premier League team still maintained the score and maintained a 100% clean sheet record in the history of participating in the FIFA Club World Cup (winning 3 matches).
