Rare pheasants and pheasants leisurely stroll in Chu Mom Ray National Park

Many rare breeds of pheasants and chickens are being preserved and growing well under the canopy of the primeval forest of Chu Mom Ray National Park, Sa Thay commune, Quang Ngai province.

On August 15, Mr. Dao Xuan Thuy, director of Chu Mom Ray National Park (Sa Thay commune, Quang Ngai province), said that this reserve is preserving and conserving many rare breeds of pheasants and jungle fowls.

Accordingly, through the camera trap system, many pheasant and jungle fowl breeds were recorded while living in a strictly protected forest environment.

Specifically, Mr. Dao Xuan Thuy said that currently Chu Mom Ray National Park has 3 chicken breeds classified in group IB - extremely rare and 1 pheasant breed classified in group IIB - rare.

The chicken breeds classified as group IB living here are the Striped Pheasant, Red-crowned Chicken, and Hump-breasted Partridge; the Rose-red Pheasant is classified as group IIB.

In addition, jungle fowl - a common wild animal - also appears a lot in this area.

According to Mr. Thuy, the rare chicken breeds of groups IB and IIB are strictly cared for and protected by the garden.

Chu Mom Ray National Park has an area of ​​over 56,000 hectares, with high biodiversity in the national park system in the country. Located at an altitude of 200 meters to 1,773 meters above sea level, the complex terrain, divided by many large and small rivers and streams, has created a very rich and diverse flora and fauna system for the park.

Chu Mom Ray National Park has many precious species of animals and plants such as: kim giao, bamboo pine, trach, cam lai, gu mat, Truong Son mang, wild buffalo, wild bison, gaur, red wolf, leopard, bear, Indochinese tiger, langur species, peacock, crested pheasant, hornbill...

Through investigation, this place has 950 animal species and 1,895 plant species. In 2004, Chu Mom Ray National Park was recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
