Nearly 1,600 people attended the 2025 Japan Study Abroad Seminar

On October 4-5, the 2025 Japan Study Abroad Conference took place successfully in Hanoi, attracting nearly 1,600 students, parents and representatives of educational and training institutions in Vietnam to attend.

The seminar on studying abroad in Japan was organized by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) in collaboration with the Center for International Education Development (CIED) under the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Alumni Club in Japan (VAJA), under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam.

The workshop was attended by Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Tien Dung, Representative of JASSO Japan Yoshino Toshio, President of VAJA Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Minh Thuy, Deputy Director of CIED Phan Thanh Binh and 27 representatives from prestigious educational institutions in Japan and a large number of students, parents in Hanoi and neighboring provinces.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ambassador Ito Naoki shared: "The Japanese Government is implementing many measures to achieve the goal of increasing the number of international students to 400,000 by 2033."

Currently, the number of international students in Japan has reached about 340 thousand people and is only one step away from achieving the target. Although the number of international students has not returned to the level before the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Vietnamese international students has started to increase again since last year, currently reaching about 40 thousand people and is about to reach the 50 thousand mark.

“This study abroad seminar is one of the efforts to increase the number of international students studying in Japan by promoting the attractiveness of studying in Japan,” Ambassador Ito Naoki emphasized.

This year's seminar focuses on providing comprehensive and updated information on study abroad programs in Japan, including: the education system, application process, scholarships, student life, as well as job opportunities after graduation.

During the event, representatives from 27 prestigious Japanese universities and educational institutions directly introduced training programs, provided admissions consultation, and answered questions for attendees. In addition, experience sharing from former international students and educational experts also provided a realistic and practical perspective for young people preparing to study abroad.

The workshop not only provided a meaningful space for connection and sharing between Japanese educational institutions and Vietnamese students, but also contributed to promoting educational cooperation between the two countries in the context of globalization and increasingly deep international integration.
