At the invitation of the Japanese National Assembly , Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong will pay an official visit to Japan from September 25-30.
In an interview with a VNA reporter in Tokyo about the visit of National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu said that the two countries' promotion of parliamentary cooperation will contribute to deepening the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that the official visit to Japan by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong is of great significance in strengthening relations between Vietnam and Japan.
The visit took place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 52nd anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, and at the same time implementing high-level agreements, including the cooperation document between the two National Assemblies signed in December 2024.
The visit also affirmed that Vietnam considers Japan a leading and long-term strategic partner, demonstrating its determination to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2023.
Through high-level contacts, the two countries will enhance political trust and effectively implement the agreements reached.
According to the Ambassador, the visit focused on promoting parliamentary cooperation and sharing experiences in building laws on emergency response, disaster management, cybersecurity, energy security, and digital transformation in the public sector.
These contents not only strengthen the connection between the legislative bodies of the two countries but also develop bilateral relations substantially, bringing practical benefits to the people.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu assessed that the Vietnam-Japan relationship, after more than half a century of establishment, has achieved many remarkable steps forward and has especially flourished since the two sides upgraded it to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2023.
The solid foundation of the relationship is high political trust and comprehensive cooperation from economics, trade, investment, defense, security to culture, education, agriculture, health, labor, people-to-people exchange and local cooperation.
The outstanding strength in the bilateral relationship lies in the complementarity between the two economies, as Vietnam has a dynamic market and abundant labor force, while Japan possesses advanced technology, management experience and high-quality investment capital. In particular, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are becoming new pillars in cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, Vietnam and Japan also maintain regular high-level exchanges, strengthen trust and coordinate closely in international forums such as the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its partners, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).
There are currently nearly 700,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Japan, forming an important bridge promoting social and cultural ties between the two countries.
Regarding the future direction, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu said that parliamentary cooperation plays a key role in realizing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
He stressed the need to maintain visits and professional exchanges, and share legislative experiences to remove institutional barriers and create conditions for socio-economic development.
In addition, the two National Assemblies need to coordinate at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), while promoting human resource training and development, considering this a priority in the economic connectivity strategy. Close cooperation will create a solid foundation for long-term cooperation and bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries./.
