Pig price today November 18

*Pig price in the North:

On the morning of November 18, the price of live pigs in the North remained in the range of 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Of which, traders in Hanoi and Phu Tho are purchasing at 64,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country. The remaining localities in the region are buying and selling at a difference of 62,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central Highlands region

Pig prices in the Central Highlands provinces currently fluctuate from 60,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the price of 62,000 VND/kg appeared in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Lam Dong. Lower than that, Binh Dinh is selling at 61,000 VND/kg. The price of live pigs in the remaining provinces is also sold at 60,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Southern region

The Southern market has not recorded any new adjustments this morning, keeping transactions in the range of 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, live pigs in Can Tho and Ca Mau are being sold at the highest price in the region of 63,000 VND/kg. On the contrary, the lowest price in the region is 60,000 VND/kg and is being purchased in the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu and Tra Vinh .

*Worldwide production and consumption are expected to fall by less than 1% in 2025

World pork production in 2025 is expected to decline by 0.8% to 115.1 million tonnes, as production declines in China and the European Union will exceed growth in the United States, Vietnam and Brazil.

Vietnam's pork output is expected to increase by 3% to 3.8 million tonnes thanks to an expected expansion of the pig herd as the livestock sector consolidates and African swine fever (ASF) control improves.

Output in Brazil is estimated to increase by 1.2% to 4.6 million tonnes, thanks to strong export demand and lower input costs.

Although China’s pork industry profitability improved in 2024, production is expected to decline by 2.2% in 2025 to 55.5 million tonnes. A reduction in sow numbers in 2024 will reduce the number of pigs slaughtered in 2025. In addition, pork demand in China is forecast to remain weak due to economic uncertainty and a growing shift to poultry meat.

European Union pork production is expected to fall by 1.6% in 2025 to 20.9 million tonnes due to falling pork prices.

Global pork exports are expected to increase by 1% to 10.4 million tonnes in 2025, as growth in exports from the US and Canada offsets a decline in exports from the EU.

Canadian exports are estimated to increase 0.7% to 1.5 million tonnes, thanks to steady demand from the US and continued growth in some Asian markets, including Japan and South Korea.

EU exports are forecast to fall 1.7% to 2.95 million tonnes, as export supplies fall and trade restrictions related to African swine fever (ASF) remain in place.
