Quang Ngai supports nearly 3.5 billion VND to prevent African swine fever, households that illegally re-herd will not receive support.

Financial support for affected localities

The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has just approved a support package of nearly 3.5 billion VND for 8 communes in the area to step up the prevention and control of African swine fever, according to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper.

Of which, Nghia Hanh commune was allocated the largest amount of funding, up to 1.31 billion VND. Other localities receiving support include:

Kon Plong and Phuoc Giang: each commune 400 million VND.

Nghia Giang: 350 million VND.

Mo Cay: more than 310 million VND.

Thien Tin: 300 million VND.

Long Phung and Tu Nghia: each commune 200 million VND.

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Ngai province, since the beginning of July, African swine fever has broken out in more than 10,400 households in 60 communes, wards and special zones in the province. As a result, more than 73,200 pigs had to be destroyed, causing heavy losses to the people.

Faced with this situation, Quang Ngai province is synchronously implementing disease control measures and at the same time increasing propaganda to raise people's awareness of protecting livestock.

Quang Ngai province authorities emphasized that livestock farmers who want to restock must strictly comply with regulations to ensure disease safety. Specifically:

Leave the barn empty and clean and disinfect it continuously for at least 30 days before stocking.

Breeding pigs must have clear origin, be purchased from reputable establishments, and have negative test results for African swine fever.

For breeding pigs imported from outside the province, a full quarantine certificate is required.

Quang Ngai province also warned that households that restock their livestock without complying with regulations will not receive financial support from the disease prevention and control program. This is a measure to ensure effective disease control and encourage people to follow proper biosafety procedures.

With a support package of nearly VND3.5 billion and strict control measures, Quang Ngai is making efforts to contain African swine fever while protecting the livestock industry from major challenges. People need to strictly follow the instructions to ensure the safety of their pigs and make effective use of the province's support.
