Pig price in Central Highlands
In the Central region, Quang Tri is the only locality that has reduced prices, down to 51,000 VND/kg, while the remaining provinces such as Nghe An , Thanh Hoa and Binh Dinh still maintain prices in the range of 50,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.
Southern pig price
In the Southern region, the market recorded slight fluctuations when the price in Ca Mau decreased to 53,000 VND/kg. Vinh Long continued to have the lowest price in the region, reaching 50,000 VND/kg, while Dong Thap remained stable at 52,000 VND/kg. In particular, key livestock provinces such as Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh still maintained the highest price in the region, reaching 54,000 VND/kg.
Overall, today's live pig price fluctuated insignificantly, only remaining stable or decreasing slightly in certain localities.
According to experts, pig prices are unlikely to increase sharply this week due to the influence of many domestic and foreign factors.
Pressure from Agricultural Crops: Coffee harvesting is entering its peak period in Vietnam, along with heavy rains in Brazil and the USD remaining at a high level, creating indirect pressure making it difficult for the agricultural market in general, including pork, to break out.
Bright Spot from Exports: In contrast, the Vietnamese coffee industry is standing out with a 9-month export turnover reaching nearly 7 billion USD, up 61%. The prospect of increased consumption during the year-end and international holiday season is expected to indirectly support the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, including pork.
Although domestic pig prices have stabilized for the time being, experts warn that African swine fever and avian influenza still pose a risk of outbreaks. In addition, extreme weather factors can locally affect supply if timely preventive measures are not taken.
Managers emphasized that for the livestock industry to develop sustainably, it needs to focus on four core factors: proactively sourcing domestic livestock breeds, promoting the processing industry, strengthening disease control, and encouraging energy-saving livestock farming models associated with environmental protection.
In the near future, the price of live pigs is forecast to continue to maintain a stable trend around 50,000 - 54,000 VND/kg. However, entering the final stage of the year, when consumer demand increases, prices may fluctuate significantly if the epidemic re-emerges or the supply is interrupted. Therefore, farmers and businesses need to proactively monitor market developments and strengthen disease prevention measures to maintain a stable supply.
