Domestic rice market stagnates
On October 15, 2025, the domestic rice market recorded no significant fluctuations. In the Mekong Delta region - the largest rice production and consumption region in the country - trading activities were slow, with low transaction volume. Many traders were still in a "wait and see" state of the market, not yet stepping up new purchases.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of raw rice of all kinds is currently stable. OM 18 rice fluctuates from 8,660 - 8,750 VND/kg; IR 504 rice is about 7,900 - 8,100 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is at 8,100 - 8,200 VND/kg; OM 380 is from 7,800 - 7,900 VND/kg; CL 555 fluctuates from 8,150 - 8,250 VND/kg. Along with rice, by-products also maintained stable prices. Broken rice 2 fluctuated around 7,150 - 7,250 VND/kg; rice bran was at 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.
Local experts said that due to abundant supply and low demand, the by-product market has not seen significant fluctuations.
Transactions in localities are quiet
In An Giang , trading is weak, many warehouses are still operating at a moderate pace, with few incoming goods. In Lap Vo and Sa Dec (Dong Thap), rice is coming in slowly, and prices remain stable compared to the beginning of the week. In An Cu (Dong Thap), trading is sporadic and not very active.
In the retail market, rice prices of all kinds remained stable. Nang Nhen rice continued to maintain its highest level of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice VND22,000/kg; regular rice VND13,000-15,000/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice VND20,000-22,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice VND21,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice VND16,000-18,000/kg. Fresh rice prices remain stable in the fields
Rice prices at the field in An Giang and many neighboring provinces remain relatively stable. IR 50404 rice (fresh) is traded at around 5,000 - 5,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 is around 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 are at 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is around 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 308 is from 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.
In Tay Ninh, Ca Mau , Vinh Long and Can Tho, the market is quiet, with traders buying slowly due to reduced demand for rice. Some areas have seen a slight decrease in rice prices, but overall they remain stable. Many traders said they are waiting for clearer export prices before buying heavily again.
Export rice prices remain stable
In the international market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged compared to the beginning of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice remained at $430-$450 per ton, 100% broken rice at $310-$314 per ton, and Jasmine rice remained at $486-$490 per ton.
Export demand is currently stagnant as major import partners are reviewing contracts and adjusting demand. However, the high and stable price of Vietnamese rice still reflects good competitiveness compared to other countries in the region.
