On the morning of September 17, oil prices continued to increase, Brent oil increased by 1.03 USD/barrel, equivalent to 1.5%, to 68.47 USD/barrel; WTI oil increased by 1.22 USD/barrel, equivalent to 1.9%, to 64.52 USD/barrel.
Both benchmark oil contracts rose amid growing concerns about supply disruptions in the market. According to Reuters, Russia's monopoly oil pipeline operator Transneft warned producers of possible production cuts after Ukrainian drone attacks, which focused on key Russian export ports and refineries amid a deadlock in peace talks.

Analysts say the situation in Russia has caused a shortage in the global diesel market, damaged refineries in Russia, reduced refining capacity, and a possible disruption in supply... All of this puts pressure on oil prices to rise.
Domestically, the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) has just forecast that retail gasoline prices may increase slightly by 0.2 - 0.9% tomorrow afternoon (September 18) compared to the previous adjustment period. Specifically, the retail price of E5 RON 92 gasoline may increase by 178 VND (0.9%), RON 95-III gasoline may increase by 180 VND (0.9%); oil prices will only increase slightly. Some petroleum wholesalers also made similar forecasts, with gasoline prices increasing by more than 200 VND/liter.
The above forecasts do not include the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.
On the morning of September 17, retail discounts on gasoline in popular markets were over VND1,000/liter.
If forecasts are correct, domestic gasoline prices will increase this week after a slight decrease last week. Since the beginning of the year, RON 95 gasoline prices have been adjusted up 21 times, down 17 times; diesel prices have increased 19 times, down 17 times and remained unchanged once./.
