On September 20, the Forest Protection Department of the Southern Region of Hue City coordinated with the authorities of Phu Loc Commune, Hue City to organize a campaign to deal with the situation of setting stork traps in the fields. The forces collected and destroyed 125 fake storks made of foam and 2,100 plastic sticks used to trap storks in the fields.

Mr. Phan Viet Phuc, Head of the Forest Protection Department in the Southern part of Hue City, said that the unit's management area includes many communes such as Phu Loc, Hung Loc, Vinh Loc, Loc An and Chan May - Lang Co, which are places where wild birds often appear, and are also hot spots for trapping. In particular, since the beginning of September, in many fields after the harvest season, nets spread across the sky, along with fake storks and bird-attracting tools used by hunters, have appeared more and more.
Faced with this situation, the forest rangers and local authorities simultaneously increased patrols, control, promoted propaganda and directly dismantled a series of net traps set along the fields. Many nets hundreds of meters long were dismantled, returning the sky to safety for migratory birds.
"From now until the end of 2025, the unit will continue to maintain regular inspections and map hot spots for long-term monitoring. At the same time, coordinate with the government, police and people to organize regular and surprise inspections," said Mr. Phuc.

On the same day, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Head of the Hue City Forest Protection Department, said that the forest rangers organized many campaigns, dismantling more than 2,570m of nets, 102 traps, 29 fake storks, 13 traps and a generator; at the same time, rescuing and releasing 2 birds into the wild.
"Currently, it is the migratory bird season, the use of nets, fake storks, decoy storks, and loudspeakers to lure birds to hunt still occurs in some communes and wards. We have directed our affiliated units to increase inspection and removal of traps, and at the same time requested local authorities to step up propaganda and mobilize people not to hunt, catch, trap, buy, sell, transport, and consume wild birds illegally," said Mr. Tuan.
According to Mr. Tuan, in the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with other sectors to sweep and eliminate wild bird trading spots, and completely prevent the sale of birds on the streets and in restaurants. At the same time, the rescue and release of wild animals into the wild will be focused on, contributing to the restoration of ecological balance and biodiversity conservation.
