Nghe An is one of the localities most severely affected by the recent storm No. 10 (Bualoi). According to statistics from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the whole province has more than 250 schools with roofs blown off, landslides and deep flooding. As of today, October 5, about 30 schools are still unable to welcome students back to school.

According to the reporter's records at Binh Son Secondary School (Thanh Binh Tho commune), the post-storm recovery work is being urgently carried out by teachers and local authorities.

However, the school is located in a deeply flooded area after the storm, the water receded slowly so most of the property (machinery, tables, chairs, books...) was severely damaged.

Three days after the storm passed, water still flooded the yard of Binh Son Secondary School.

Teachers took advantage of the flood water to clean muddy desks and chairs.

The school yard is full of books drying after the flood.

Teachers turn each page of books and notebooks, "rescuing" the letters for the children.

Mr. Ho Van Canh - Principal of Binh Son Secondary School said: "After nearly a week of efforts to overcome the situation, tomorrow we can welcome students back to school. However, the damage caused by the storm is too great, estimated at about 300 million VND, we will take steps to ensure the students' learning."

According to Mr. Canh, although the students can return to school tomorrow, many of them, because their homes are in deep flooded areas, had their clothes and books completely swept away, so they really need help from benefactors.

According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training , the heavy damage caused by the storm and flood is a huge challenge for recovery work in the coming time. The total initial damage is estimated at about 250 billion VND.
