Information that Hanoi will allow students to stay home from school has just been sent to the People's Committees of wards, communes and schools across Hanoi.

Accordingly, to ensure the safety of students and teachers, the Department of Education and Training requested that units let students take a day off on October 6, switching from in-person teaching to online teaching.

Schools also need to closely monitor weather developments in the coming days to promptly handle situations, be flexible in teaching and learning, update information and promptly report difficulties and problems to the Department of Education and Training.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of October 5 to October 7, there will be heavy rain in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Hanoi is in the area affected by storm Matmo.

On the afternoon of October 5, regarding the developments of storm No. 11 (storm Matmo), Mr. Mai Van Khiem, Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that at 2:00 p.m. the storm was in the eastern area of ​​Leizhou Island (China), about 270km from Mong Cai, Quang Ninh .

The storm is currently at the end of level 12, beginning of level 13, and this is also the time when the storm reaches its strongest intensity since its formation. The storm is moving at a speed of about 25km/h, mainly in the West Northwest direction.

According to forecasts, around this evening, October 5, storm Matmo will pass Leizhou Island (China) and enter the Northern Gulf of Tonkin of our country, with a sustained intensity of about level 12, gusting to level 15. After that, the storm is likely to move along the northern coast of the Gulf of Tonkin and make landfall in the area between Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) and Guangxi province (China) around midnight tonight to early tomorrow morning, October 6.
