“According to statistics from the Ministry of Health , each year respiratory diseases account for about 20-30% of total pediatric visits, of which a fairly high percentage require hospitalization,” Dr. Hung informed.

Implementing Resolution 20-NQ/TW of the Central Committee on "Strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health in the new situation", the Hanoi health sector has determined the goal of developing a comprehensive, modern, equitable and internationally integrated health system.

In particular, pediatrics is considered one of the key areas, aiming to build a strong pediatric network, connecting from the central to the grassroots level, with Hanoi Children's Hospital and Hanoi Pediatrics Association as the core forces.

According to Dr. Hung, the Hanoi health sector sets a number of specific goals, especially aimed at pediatrics, such as:

Strongly develop the pediatric specialty system. In which, pediatric hospital is the mainstay.

“How can we connect from the central level such as the National Children's Hospital to Hanoi Children's Hospital to the city's general hospitals and commune and ward health stations?

The city also develops and builds a high-quality pediatric workforce. According to Dr. Hung, this is a huge challenge. There needs to be many high-quality, high-tech experts to deploy many advanced techniques for children and transfer appropriate techniques to all levels.

Hanoi also focuses on developing preventive medicine and school health care towards comprehensive physical and mental development for children.

The healthcare industry is moving towards strong application of digital transformation and precision medicine in pediatric treatment.

On October 9, 2024, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, Hanoi Children's Hospital was inaugurated and officially put into operation.
