Hanoi starts construction of Tran Hung Dao Bridge investment project

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of October 9, in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh attended and spoke at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge Construction Investment Project.

This bridge plays an important role in promoting the urbanization process in the eastern and northeastern areas of the capital, creating a premise for implementing the policy of traffic diversion and reducing traffic pressure in the inner city, in accordance with the country's development policies and orientations, connecting the main roads along the two banks of the Red River, contributing to the development of urban, industrial, commercial and service areas, promoting socio-economic development, creating architectural highlights for the capital, according to the Capital Transport Development Plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that in recent years, key traffic projects connecting traffic between the two sides of the Red River of the Capital have received investment attention, but have not yet met the requirements of development. This has led to many difficulties in socio-economic development in the East and Northeast of the Red River, and the connection of trade between the center of the Capital and neighboring areas, putting great pressure on the current traffic system (such as Nhat Tan Bridge, Chuong Duong Bridge, Vinh Tuy Bridge, Thanh Tri Bridge, Long Bien Bridge).

In that situation, after a period of great effort in preparation, up to now, the Tran Hung Dao bridge project with a length of about 4.2 km, total investment capital of about 15,000 billion VND from the budget of Hanoi City has met the conditions to start construction according to regulations, the project has many important meanings:

Contribute to promoting the urbanization process in the Eastern and Northeastern areas of the City; create a premise for traffic diversion and reduction of traffic pressure in the urban center, in line with the development policy and orientation of the Capital along the two banks of the Red River; complete the Capital's infrastructure framework, serving the socio-economic development goals, especially ensuring growth of over 8% in 2025 and sustainable double-digit growth in the following years; affirm the strong transformation, rapid and sustainable development, promoting the role of economic locomotive of the whole country and of Hanoi.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended and appreciated the efforts and sense of responsibility of Hanoi City, relevant departments, branches, investors, consulting units, and local authorities where the project passes. He thanked the people who were willing to give up land, move their houses, and create all favorable conditions for the project implementation.

Emphasizing that the work to be carried out in the near future is very large with many challenges, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that the construction of the Tran Hung Dao bridge must ensure quality and progress; ensure technical, aesthetic, environmental sanitation, landscape, and labor safety; ensure investment efficiency and harmonize the interests of the State, people, and businesses, putting the common interests, national interests, and ethnic interests above all. In particular, it is necessary to focus on implementing the following key tasks:

Firstly, the Hanoi People's Committee focuses on leadership, direction, and mobilizing the consensus and support of the entire political system, people, and business community; proactively and actively resolves difficulties and problems, and ensures stable lives for people in affected areas.

Second, the units: investors, supervision consultants, design contractors and contractors must promote the highest sense of responsibility, develop scientific and detailed construction plans and methods, apply and transfer modern technology; closely follow the construction site, actively inspect, supervise and urge the implementation of the plan.

Third, the construction team, designers, and workers on the site are highly determined, make great efforts, act decisively, and work with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the wind and storm", "3 shifts, 4 shifts".

Fourth, relevant ministries, departments and branches, especially the Ministry of Construction, should accompany Hanoi in removing difficulties and obstacles, promptly reporting to the Government and the Prime Minister on issues arising beyond their authority, to ensure progress and efficiency in implementing the Project.

Fifth, the people in the Project area continue to accompany and support the Project. Party committees and authorities build and launch emulation and reward movements, creating an enthusiastic working atmosphere. Press and media agencies promptly inform, communicate, and portray exemplary workers, good people, and good deeds at the construction site.

The Deputy Prime Minister shared that in May 2025, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tu Lien Bridge, the Prime Minister requested to shorten the project construction time to 24 months. Therefore, Hanoi needs to promote the lessons learned in implementing key national projects. Innovate thinking, take decisive action; unite, mobilize all forces, and coordinate closely; be confident, self-reliant, self-reliant, strongly decentralize and delegate power; remove difficulties and cut cumbersome administrative procedures; assign and assign tasks to ensure "6 clarity: Clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibility, clear authority, clear products"; launch a patriotic emulation movement, work enthusiastically, for the interests of the nation, the people, for the development of the country in general and Hanoi in particular, to strive to complete the Project earlier than the set target.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Government always accompanies, pays attention and directs resolutely to complete this important investment project on schedule and with quality; Hanoi will have a traffic project with unique and meaningful architecture; be a tourist destination for domestic and foreign visitors, meet the needs of socio-economic development, and improve the lives of the people of the capital.
