Road traffic infrastructure damaged nearly 1,000 billion VND due to storm No. 10

Storm No. 10 and subsequent floods have caused serious damage to the country's road infrastructure system with an estimated total value of nearly VND1,000 billion.

Storm No. 10 (international name Bualoi) although making landfall in the Central region, has caused severe damage to traffic infrastructure in many provinces and cities across the country.

According to a summary report by the Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Construction ), up to now, storm No. 10 and subsequent floods have caused serious damage to the road traffic infrastructure system across the country, with a total estimated value of nearly 1,000 billion VND.

Specifically, the national highway and expressway system managed by the Ministry of Construction suffered a loss of about VND78.72 billion (8%). Provincial roads and national highways managed by localities suffered a loss of about VND904.11 billion (92%).

Of the losses under the Ministry of Construction, the four Road Management Areas most affected include: Road Management Area I (from Thanh Hoa to the North) 26.7 billion VND; Road Management Area II (from Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue) 12.25 billion VND; Road Management Area III (from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa) 12.3 billion VND; Road Management Area IV (from Ninh Thuan to the South) 36.37 billion VND.

Damages at BOT national highway and expressway projects were recorded at VND2.12 billion, mainly at Vinh bypass (Nghe An) and Cai Lay bypass (Tien Giang).

According to the synthesis of the Vietnam Road Administration, 9 provinces and cities have sent quick damage reports including: Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh. Of which, Thanh Hoa is the locality with the heaviest damage, with a total estimated value of 600 billion VND, including 310 billion VND on decentralized national highways and 290 billion VND on provincial roads.

Northern mountainous provinces such as Cao Bang, Son La, and Lao Cai also recorded serious landslides, many of which are still being handled, especially in areas where slopes and roadbeds were washed away./.
