Ha Tinh: Completed environmental sanitation and domestic water treatment after storms and floods

On the evening of October 7, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC Ha Tinh), said that flooded areas in Ha Tinh have basically completed environmental sanitation and domestic water treatment, and especially that no epidemics have occurred during this flood season.

According to the report of CDC Ha Tinh, due to the impact of storm No. 10, from September 27 to September 29, heavy rains continued in Ha Tinh province, causing flooding in nearly 4,000 households, 350 wells, 27 meeting halls, 31 schools, 8 commune health stations and 2 commune People's Committees.

With the motto "where the water recedes, the environment is treated", CDC Ha Tinh promptly directed medical centers to coordinate with commune and village health stations in flooded areas, instructing people to clean the environment, clean their houses, and treat environmental pollution and domestic water sources.

According to CDC Ha Tinh, during this period, the unit provided nearly 1,000 kg of Cloramin B to localities affected by storms and floods to treat water sources, clean the environment, and prevent epidemics.

In addition, the unit also organized delegations to inspect and supervise environmental sanitation, domestic water treatment and epidemic prevention after floods in affected localities.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, after floods, the risk of disease outbreaks is very high, especially pink eye, diarrhea, dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, skin diseases... Therefore, medical centers need to continue to concentrate forces, coordinate with local authorities and commune health stations to handle the environment and domestic water for people; focus on cleaning livestock barns in households, collecting waste and animal carcasses in flooded areas for treatment and disposal according to regulations.
