The incident happened at noon on October 6, the male student who was beaten was LVM (residing in Huong Xuan commune, an 8th grade student at Chu Van An Secondary School).
Ms. Chu Thi Hoai Thuong (residing in Huong Xuan commune, Ha Tinh - a relative of M.) said that M.'s parents are working far away in the South. Since the beginning of the year, M.'s parents have sent her to Ms. Thuong to take care of her.
Usually, M. comes home from school around 11am, but on October 6th, it was past 12am and she still hadn't returned. Worried, she called her homeroom teacher and was told that she had returned home after school.
"After the call, I ran to my nephew's house to see if he had come home but he didn't. I returned home for a while and then saw him. While eating, I saw scratches on his hand. I asked him if he had been beaten. Only then did he burst into tears and say he had been beaten by a group of other students on his way home from school," said Ms. Thuong.

After examination, M. had bruises on both arms and some other areas, so Ms. Thuong took him to Huong Khe Medical Center for examination. Here, M. was diagnosed with "definite injuries affecting many areas of the body, being beaten by another person..." so he was transferred to the surgery department for treatment.
"Seeing the bruises on my nephew's hands and body, I felt very sorry. I hope the authorities will take serious action against those who beat him, lest he be afraid to go to school and also to prevent school violence," said Ms. Thuong.
Mr. Nguyen Anh - Principal of Chu Van An Secondary School, confirmed that there was a case of student M. being beaten. The school has assigned a homeroom teacher to visit and encourage the student, and at the same time verify and clarify the incident.
