Thousands of candidates 'open' the first thinking assessment exam in 2025

On the afternoon of January 18, the first Thinking Assessment (TSA) exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the 2025 admission season took place at testing sites in 13 provinces and cities across the country with 6,891 candidates participating.

Candidate Nguyen Linh Chi, a 12th grade student majoring in Mathematics at Bac Kan High School for the Gifted (Bac Kan), said she took this exam to familiarize herself with the exam format. The second exam will be her official exam. “After this exam, if I have any weak parts, I will focus on reviewing to improve in the official exam,” Chi said.

Taking the thinking assessment test for the first time, contestant Nguyen Huu Tri, a 12A6 student at Pham Hong Thai High School (Hanoi) said he was a bit worried but still confident in this test because he had carefully reviewed the sample test structure.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the first unit to launch a thinking assessment test in the 2025 admission season. The first round of the test will be held on January 18 and 19.

This year, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Thinking Assessment Exam has reduced the number of exams by 3 compared to last year. The remaining two exams will take place on March 8 and 9 and April 26 and 27.

Speaking to reporters, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien - Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that although the number of exam sessions has decreased, the number of exam teams for each session has increased, so the number of candidates expected to take the exam is expected to increase compared to last year.

On the first day of the first round, there were 6,891 candidates taking the exam. The total number of candidates in the first round on January 18 and 19 is expected to be 14,000.

The school plans to send the digital version of the first round exam results notice to candidates on January 24.

Up to now, more than 50 higher education institutions have used the results of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Thinking Assessment exam for admission. However, according to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, depending on the admission regulations, each school has converted the exam scores to a different scale. Therefore, Mr. Dien advised candidates to carefully research the information during the application process.
