Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung (third from right) and the working delegation inspected the project to handle landslides on the banks of Nang Mau canal.

Accordingly, the delegation inspected the implementation of the project to handle landslides on Lai Hieu riverbank, Nga Bay city and the project to handle landslides on Nang Mau canalbank in Tan Long commune, Phung Hiep district.

The Prime Minister has allocated 200 billion VND for both projects to be implemented in 2024. Of which, the project to handle landslides on Lai Hieu riverbank, Nga Bay city was started in March 2024, with a total investment of 50 billion VND.

The project to handle landslides on the banks of Nang Mau canal, Tan Long commune, Phung Hiep district has a total investment of 150 billion VND and will start construction in February 2024.

After inspecting the construction work, the delegation had a working session with the People's Committee of Hau Giang province.

Here, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung requested the People's Committee of Hau Giang province to direct investors to urgently construct, soon complete and put into operation the two projects.

This will contribute to ensuring the urgent goal of handling landslides and stabilizing people's lives. At the same time, ensuring the capital disbursement target is allocated according to plan.

Deputy Minister Trung reminded localities to review and promptly handle cases of riverside housing construction. This is one of the causes of pressure on river banks leading to subsidence and landslides, especially in areas with weak ground.

Besides, Hau Giang also needs to pay more attention to population planning, especially in cases affected by landslides.

At the meeting, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that in the coming time, he will direct relevant units to urgently complete the projects.
