Electronic trading system was attacked, VNDirect is reconnecting

VNDirect’s announcement this morning (March 25) said that the securities company’s system is in the process of reconnecting to be able to trade in time. The recovery process is expected to take time.

VNDirect was attacked from 10am Sunday, March 24, 2024.

VNDirect Securities Joint Stock Company has just sent out a notice to customers and investors about the system recovery situation after the weekend attack.

Specifically, the VNDirect system was attacked from 10am on Sunday, March 24, 2024. A VNDirect representative said that by this morning, the technology team had completely resolved the problem and was in the process of reconnecting to ensure timely transactions.

“However, the recovery process is expected to take time, so we will continue to update our customers. Thank you everyone for your support and trust in VNDirect . We had a difficult day, but we overcame it with the support of our customers and partners,” the company said in a statement.

In the world , DDoS attacks (actions that make servers or network resources unavailable to users) on financial institutions and stock exchanges are no longer too strange. Typically in 2012, 6 major US banks simultaneously suffered DDoS attacks, making their customers unable to access websites or conduct online transactions. In 2013, the world stock market also witnessed the Nasdaq stock exchange paralyzed for 3 hours due to DDoS attacks.

In Vietnam, from July 23 to July 29, 2020; the electronic trading system of one of the leading securities companies in the brokerage market was also continuously attacked by DDoS. This attack disrupted all transactions; prevented customers from logging into the system.
