Saigon alley decorated for Tet

For many years now, every Tet holiday, people in the alleys in the center of Ho Chi Minh City decorate the landscape brilliantly.

About 150 meters long, a corner of the sidewalk on Co Giang Street, District 1, is brilliant with apricot flowers and Tet landscapes. This is the first year that people in Co Giang Ward have designed a flower street, maintained from January 29 to February 14 (the 5th day of Tet).

On the sidewalk about 3 meters wide, each neighborhood decorates each corner with a typical Tet decoration.

Ms. Xuan Trang took a photo with her friend next to the Tet scene in her neighborhood. She said that the people in the alley were excited to decorate the spring corner, and the flower street was completed in a week. "This street has many foreign visitors, I hope that during Tet, this flower street will become a tourist attraction of the city," the 51-year-old woman said.

Nearly two kilometers away, Alley 100 Tran Hung Dao Street, District 1, is also decorated. The small alley is 4 meters wide, decorated about 50 meters long with many colorful flags and miniature landscapes.

Mr. Huynh Van Quang, 56 years old, redecorated the apricot tree in front of his house. He said that the neighbors in the alley came up with the idea and together decorated it for many days, and it was just completed a week ago.

The miniature landscapes at alley 100 Tran Hung Dao attract nearby residents to come and hang out and interact with each other every day.

Alley 153 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (District 1) is also resplendent with Tet miniatures contributed by nearly 100 households. This is the third consecutive year that people have turned their alley into a "mini" flower street. Opposite is a green wall planted with recycled materials. Planting trees to green the alley is an annual activity of people living in this area.

The highlight of alley 18A, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, district 1, is the net with hundreds of hanging lanterns, attracting many young people to take pictures.

Kieu Thi Thuy Ngan, a student at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, dressed up and took a photo with her friend. "The other day I went to a cafe and passed by here. I saw this alley was sparkling, so today I invited my friend to take a photo for Tet before going home," Ngan said.

Alley 174 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, District 3, has had a bright welcome gate for three weeks now. Mr. Hong Phong, 65 years old, said this is the 10th year that people have beautified the alley for Tet. The decoration costs come from contributions from people and sponsorships.

Inside the main axis and small alleys on Nguyen Thien Thuat Street are decorated with flashing lights, firecrackers, mascots, parallel sentences... until the full moon of January.

Alley 115 on Le Van Sy Street, Phu Nhuan District, has been decorated by locals for nearly a month now. In the middle of the alley is a dragon mascot hanging from a bougainvillea canopy. The alley is greener as locals plant more trees and flowers in front of their houses.
