On September 15, coach Flick confirmed to the media that Lamine Yamal may be absent from Barca's match against Newcastle in the Champions League in the middle of this week.
The reason is that this young striker is injured. Yamal has not been able to train with his Barca teammates in the past few days and had to sit out Barca's 6-0 victory over Valencia in round 4 of the Spanish Championship (La Liga).
Speaking further about Yamal's absence, coach Hansi Flick expressed his disappointment that the Spanish team did not know how to "take care" of this young star. Yamal was abused when he joined the national team and this could have ruined his career.
Coach Flick said: "Lamine Yamal joined the national team with a groin injury. He did not train and had to take painkillers to play. The Spanish team was three goals ahead in each match and Yamal had to play 79 and 73 minutes respectively. Spain has many good players in every position and Yamal should have been rested with such an injury. I am really sad about this."
Yamal is only 18 years old but has become an irreplaceable pillar in the Spanish national team with 23 appearances for the national team. However, this player is showing signs of being overloaded due to having to play continuously.
