The former Liverpool player said: “I am very grateful for football, it has taken me to many wonderful places. Hanoi is a beautiful city. I am very happy to come to Hanoi FC and look forward to the challenge ahead. Hopefully we will create a great atmosphere and bring Hanoi FC back to its original position.”

The Australian legend has played and coached in many countries around the world . That can help him adapt to the new environment easily. Coach Harry Kewell added: “Each country has its own culture. I always tell my children to embrace the culture of the place they come from. If you do that, life will be much easier. I will enjoy life in Hanoi the way I enjoy football.

I have worked with many Asian players, from Japan to Korea, and they all have great spirit and attitude. I believe Vietnamese players are the same. I want to create an environment where they are always eager to learn and improve themselves. When they improve, the team will also improve. I know Vietnamese players are very receptive, always want to develop, and helping them improve is my job."

I am very excited to meet the Hanoi FC fans. Hopefully together we can create a great atmosphere and bring Hanoi FC back to its former position. That is the reason I am here.”

Before appointing coach Harry Kewell, the Capital Club had 8 points after 6 matches and was ranked 6th on the rankings. He will debut for Hanoi Club in the match against Ninh Binh FC on October 18.
