On the evening of September 13, Ho Chi Minh City Club held defending champion Nam Dinh to a 0-0 draw in the early match of round 6 of V-League 2025 - 2026 at Thong Nhat Stadium.
Speaking after the match, coach Le Huynh Duc said: "Nam Dinh Club is strong, with quality players. Therefore, we try to organize a good defense and take advantage of quick counterattacks.
We didn't play very well in the first half. But it could also be because Nam Dinh players didn't play well. They dominated us without scoring a goal.
The second half was more stable, we controlled the game. In this match, Nam Dinh Club was probably subjective, thinking we were a weak team. They couldn't play aggressively and got impatient."
Talking about the absence of midfielder Endrick Santos in this match, coach Le Huynh Duc said: "He was injured when he joined the Malaysian team, so there's no way I could leave him out!"
Ho Chi Minh City Police Club needs to improve physical fitness
Ho Chi Minh City Police Club had the chance to score in this match but failed to do so. But the problem that coach Le Huynh Duc thinks needs to be improved is physical strength.
He said: "We play defensive counter-attacks. Players are exhausted. Running long distances to the goal makes handling the ball difficult. Therefore, we need to improve our physical strength. Only good and strong players can handle the ball properly."
Talking about striker Tien Linh - who could not score when he had several chances, coach Le Huynh Duc defended his student.
He said: "It's difficult to always put pressure on the player, demanding that he score. Tien Linh did his job well. If he doesn't score, he creates conditions for his teammates to score. The coach cannot put pressure on the player to do what everyone expects, but needs to urge them to practice more."

For his part, coach Vu Hong Viet shared: "I was satisfied with the team's fighting spirit in today's match. They played hard and gave their all. There were many opportunities in the first half but they couldn't solve them, it's a pity."
Talking about replacing Vietnamese-American defender Kevin Pham Ba in the second half and then replacing him again, coach Vu Hong Viet explained: "I don't know the injury situation of Pham Ba yet. I also calculated the plan when I replaced him, when our 2m06 tall striker came in, I needed Pham Ba to cross the ball for a header."
Thong Nhat Stadium is too muddy
Coach Vu Hong Viet also criticized Thong Nhat Stadium's poor surface in this match. "The surface was very muddy, affecting the overall play of both teams, not just us," he said.
Evaluating the HCM City Police Club, Coach Vu Hong Viet said: "Before this year's season, I highly appreciated the HCM City Police Club. They invested and prepared carefully. The quality of the squad is good. Therefore, today's away match is difficult for us."
The coach of Nam Dinh Club said that until today's match, the team had full domestic players after recovering from injury.
"Hong Duy and Van Dat have just returned. Amit and many injured players have just returned today so their physical condition is not yet ready. This is our problem.
In the next 20 days, we have to play 6 matches. Playing a match every three days is a physical problem for us. I think we have to rotate the players."
